Hi! My name is Ella Moody, I am a CSU student athlete interested in mental health, psychology, and sports. This portfolio shows how my writing, research, and awareness of who I write to changed throughout this CO150 class!

Artifact 1: Ignite PowerPoint Presentation

I think my Ignite presentation shows my growth in clearly explaining my ideas and also showing my creativity to a specific audience. Having limited slides/time forced me to keep things simple but still informative, use strong pictures that support my information, and focus on the purpose of what I was saying without making it overwhelming.

Artifact 2: Cover Letter

This was my first ever cover letter, and I think it shows how I learned to write for a professional audience and to use my personal experiences that an employer is actually looking for. I worked on making sure to be professional but with my own voice, which was really hard at first because I had never written a cover letter before. With the feedback I got, I learned how to be more intentional with how I word things (to not fluff up my writing), to be intentional with my organization, and stay away from repeating myself.

Artifact 3: Research Paper

This project mattered the most to me because it let me share my own experience and also included research to back it up. Writing this put together what I have been trying to do all semester with my reading notes (figuring out how to combine my personal life with scholarly sources without letting one get in the way of the other) I had to keep in mind how coaches, trainers, and athletic staff would take what I was saying which helped me figure out how I wanted to organize the paper and the evidence I used. This artifact shows how my writing became more confident when I wrote about something I genuinely care about.
